  1. haha indeed, it doesn't matter where you train. It could be anywhere. When I get up from my seat behind the computer and get a drink, my living room is standard maegeri, the walls in the hallway can expect haishu/uraken and some "special" bodymovement is done to position myself perfectly for the fridge!
  2. 3 years to become orange belt???? That is usually the second belt and should be working as a stimulance in training. When you get to 4th kyu it should become more serious. Well, my opinion anyway. And about style.. when I'm playing Chess, it's not the same as Checkers? I can't imagine having the guts to even ask if I could keep my belt. I once trained in a Dojo from an other style, I wore my white belt. As well for a seminar in Daito ryu when I still did aikibudo, I wore my white belt. I just can't understand such mentality.
  3. Welcome to the Forums! As to answer your question, it would be hard to give up a year of my life as well. Sooooo.....I guess it will have to be a reverse Uchi-Deshi, where instead we have the instructor live with us for a year or so! haha brilliant. thats the best idea this year
  4. Hey Zanshin, Thanks for welcoming me! And I think I don't know the other Dutch person. No, you do not indeed
  5. Thanks, Zanshin. I just couldn't think of the term. I added it to the title of the thread. So, who would it be for you, Zanshin? Would it be the name you listed? In Wado Karate: Takagi Hideho / Arakawa (Toru or Takamasa) / Hakoishi Katsumi to name but a few. In Koryu: Toby Threadgill - Shindo Yoshin Ryu (he is American btw) Shogen Okobayashi - Daito Ryu Aiki-jujutsu But alas, I do not have 6 lifetimes to spare. Z Hi there, first post here. I'm AJ. Copy your list of Wadoryu in Japan and add Mr. Takashima, Mr. Kondo and Mr. Ashihara and not to forget Mr. J. Ohtsuka But who will "give up" his regular life to go away for a year? I really can't imagine myself doing so... AJ van Dijk, Gorinchem - Netherlands
