With A Little Help From My Two Little Friends!
sensei8 replied to sensei8's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
sensei8, I am not trying to sound negative towards you, but the chance will almost never present itself in a real confrontation. Unless you are going against a inexpereinced person. That's ok...I'll be ready whenever it actually presents itself....and my opponent, no matter how skilled or unskilled, will find it rather uncomfortable. The bueaty of Tuite is that the techniques will sneak up when one, skilled or unskilled, isn't expecting it. I'll be ready! -
Ohh......there's that word again...complacent...well...I'm fine with it!

What Is
sensei8 replied to RichardZ's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
That is true. Have you ever read William S. Wilson's writing..."Ideals of the Samurai: Writings of Japanese Warriors"? Well, he speaks of just that...social class, family lineage, writing style, and geography; including the sharing of common values. Yet, the Code of Bushido is just as real as the planet Earth is...real that is! -
What Is
sensei8 replied to RichardZ's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Code of Bushido and many other things in the martial arts are just not understood, but, they're thrown around anyway without any thought and/or any care, imho! -
They're both martial arts! Not by name and not by literal definition! Gung Fu could be applied to anything of acquired skill. In a sense, Karate can be a Gung Fu, though it is a mixture of terms (like bo staff-East and West termed together) Still...not by name and not by literal definition!

Why? Do they freak seeing your strange underwear? Seriously, I cannot fully understand the pupose of this thread. For be it as it may, if one is all these things when they take off their belt, why bother to put one on in the first place? For FUN...cool? And, why not! I sometimes create...real dorky topics and sometimes I don't...cool?

Rank stripes on Black Belt Like or dislike?
sensei8 replied to IcemanSK's topic in Equipment and Gear
I do like, at least it's different, that the ATA uses roman numbers to depict black belt ranks. If it's a preference to wear or not to wear, the practitoner whom chooses either way SHOULD BE RESPECTED as to their preference, imho. But, that's not the case per my previous post. -
True Brilliance of Martial Arts
sensei8 replied to sensei8's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
RichardZ, My bad. That article was written by Black Belt Magazine, Michael James (Publisher, Black Belt, p.6, April, 2000), NOT by the website I linked to. I'm sorry I didn't make it more clear, again, that was my fault and my bad! -

Brian, Just Sparring...I LOVE IT! Nothing better than JUST SPARRING! Just spar, just spar, just spar, just spar, just spar..... Sometimes my black belts hate JUST SPARRING with me. They'll wonder out loud at times..."AREN'T YOU TIRED YET?" My usual response..."NOPE...KEEP GOING!" Heheheehhee, I love just sparring!
