  1. Odd... not the school, but I have lived in SW Ohio my entire life and I've never heard of this school. In fact, the main dojo of my school is just across town from this, in Trotwood. I'm sure it's a fine school. Hope you enjoy!
  2. I have actually heard Akaido having many internal aspects to it. Is this true?
  3. What's the name of your book going to be?
  4. My walmart bought aluminum framed, 21 speed, street/mountain hybrid bicycle made by Next.
  5. Current Job: Kitchen Deplenisher Future Job: Delivery Driver Future Career: I'm not sure yet, I have always wanted to go to India to do ministry work, but right now, I'm in the doldrums.
  6. Lol!
  7. Why through the nose? the last time I checked, air expelled through the nose and the mouth are the same, except it has an oder from the mouth from time to time... And I find that I have greater controll over my breath with my mouth than my nose. I do agree however that breathing exercises should be a regular regimen for all martial artists. Greater lung capacity equals more energy which equals greater speed and power.
  8. My instructor kiddingly says with newer students to think of all the times they want to shout really loud in class. well this is their chance! Just a word of caution, use your diaphram (sp?) and NOT your throat to kiai. If you use your throat, you'll have a really sore throat at the end. Like ps1, my kiai isn't really a word, but a "spirited shout".
  9. When you enjoy practicing various throws in your back yard in the heat of the day with your friend and you're the uke When you put the school wrestlers into a choke hold and forget they don't know to tap out. When you practice weapons katas with stage props while waiting during play rehersal When you actually break the stage props doing so when you scare your friends (MA or non-MA) while doing your kata When you plan your work schedule around your martial arts schedule. When you can determine the MA style of video game characters within 30 seconds. When you ask your Spanish teacher how to say Japanese words in Spanish And yes I've done all of these, but I don't play too many combat fighting games, just at my friends once in a while.
  10. Very well done ps1! I wish some of my fellow students at my school could work as well together.
  11. I have only a little experiance in BJJ, but I've stumbled upon this guy on Youtube, and he has a lot of videos, ranging from 1 min 30 sec. to 10 min. they go over various drills and situations. He makes a lot of sense and seems to be very practical. hope you enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/leveragepinning
  12. Fixed blade totally. I find them sturdier, not to mention I find them more impressive (i.e. a Bowie)
  13. For self Defense: the spear For tournament: the tanto
  14. I'd rather carry a sidearm, because if they're too close for me to draw the gun, then chances are that I'm not going to be able to draw the knife, though I do like knives immensly. If they're that close then I'm just try to do my best w/o a weapon.
  15. foot sweep to knock opponent down thenstrike to groin and then block as you rise into horse stance
