White Belt

White Belt (1/10)

  1. I did a quick search and was suprised not to see anything on this. Even though a fictional martial art its still extremely cool. Here are a few videos showing it from the movie Equalibrium and Ultraviolet. Equalibrium - Ultraviolet - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hsufPvQs_s Though I don't think you can consider the fictional gun kata a kata since it is not a set of movements, instead you would constantly adapt depending on the situation. 2. Stretching machines are a waste of money in my opinion, just use the ground, and gravity. Take a look at the second link in my signature, this guide is how I achieved my split: http://www.trickstutorials.com/index.php?page=content/flx3#dsf_x Juji says best:
  3. The BOB is a great product. I like it, again for improving target accuracy. It also helps you learn to kick to the head because you have to get past the broad shoulders. Also I find it is a much harder target that will condition your hands more so than a regular wave master.
  4. Ours is: White Gold Green Blue Brown Black
  5. Wear it as much as possible, even while training at home. Don't wash it, unless you train in a dirty Dojo or outside your belt shouldn't get dirty. Though if you move up in rank fast and aren't able to wear it much it will never soften. My belt is getting that extremely soft and pliable feel to it after about 3-4 months of wear.
  6. Depending on what you are doing I think the music might actually help you. Think about it, if you can't concentrate with music on, how are you going to concentrate during a real fight. During an actual conflict there could be countless distractions.
  7. There is a company called Kataaro that makes amazing belts. All made in the US they are very nice, and the only belts I would wear/recommend.
  8. Yes mirror image is great, we try to do everything on the left/right side equallity. This usually equates to 1 kick/kata/technique on your strong side = practice the same 3 times on your off-side.
  9. During our classes we keep some bamboo flute playing at a low volume. As long as its nothing too crazy. During training I listen to mostly techno, or anything fast.
  10. First I would grab the choking hand to alleviate his grip a bit. Then I would shift my weight as if rolling to the side of the choke. The moment he compensates roll hard the other way to get him off.
