Fumio Demura passed away today, April 24, 2023, at the age of 84 years old. My sincerest and deepest condolence's go out to his family, friends, and students.

He's well known both in and out of the martial arts world. In the martial arts world he's quite recognized for his many contributions within the martial arts. Outside of the martial arts, he's most recognized as the true Mr. Miyagi from the Karate Kid movies in the 1980's.

He was born September 15, 1938 in Yokohama, Japan. He was a 9th Dan in Shito-ryu; his teachers were Ryusho Sakagami and Taira Shinken.

He will be sorely missed, now and forever. RIP Demura Sensei.

When I first met him in person in Santa Ana, he graciously allowed me to observe one of their dojo practices. Will miss him.
