Black Belt

Black Belt (10/10)

  1. I'm sure that they are grateful for the Coalition's help, but are fearful of the US somehow trying to control the country, either through direct leadership, or more discrete means. We all know how British colonialisation went, and its no surprise that the Iraqi people would be very weary of something similar happening here.
  2. Pushups will work the Chest, Triceps, and front deltoid(front of the shoulder) Pullups with a wide grip, palms facing away from you, and thumbless grip will work the Back, Lats, Biceps and forearms. Hindu Squats/Shootfighting Squats will build thighs, butt, calves, and lung power. Use Crunches, reverse crunches, and twist crunches to build your midsection. A simple search on any search engine should show you how to perform those exercises.
  3. I havn't gone through all of the responses here, but in my view it depends upon what one wants from life and training, and what they enjoy doing. If you enjoy learning martial arts, join a martial arts club! If you much prefer going to the gym, go the gym! If you enjoy both, incorporate them both to work together.
  4. Those bands aren't punk rock, they are pop punk!
  5. Ryno - Goa trance? Sounds interesting, could you give me an artist or two which I can look into? I listen to all sorts. Classical rock, A lot of metal, some punk, some newage music, some classical-far eastern music and lots of ambience and oldschool dance, like Juno Reactor, Future Sound of london, Orbital and Aphex Twin.
  6. Sharpshooter - by mental training are you referring to the sort of thing these people have posted, or specific mind-over-matter techniques, like boiling hot/ice cold baths and holding Deep Horseriding stance?
  7. Breakdancing is a complete contrary to Wing Chun. First of all, its not even a martial art. Wing Chun is based upon effectiveness, and shortest distance attacks. Breakdancing isn't even a MA, but if you incorporate some of its moves into a fight I fail to see how these conserve energy, time, or distance.
  8. W a t e r 1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (Likely applies to half the world population.) 2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger. 3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%. 4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a U-Washington study. 5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue. 6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers. 7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page. 8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of water you should every day? C o k e 1. In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the truck to remove blood from the highway after a car accident. 2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two days. 3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous China. 4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola. 5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion. 6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes. 7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy. 8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield. Check it out. For Your Info : 1. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its pH is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis. 2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use the Hazardous material place cards reserved for highly corrosive materials. 3. The distributors of coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years!
  9. Cut down drastically on soda and start drinking more water. Aim for 2 litres a day. It annoys me when people say they don't drink water because of the "taste". Water was put there long before any soda and juice came out, meant for us to drink and live by. It doesn't taste of anything - so how can there be a taste to dislike? If you are after a taste from your water, your system is probably still riddled with cravings for sugary foods and drinks - wean yourself off of these and start drinking the natural goodness of this world. Peace.
  10. Because you need to practice control, technique, proper hitting etc. first I would also recommend waiting before you get gi or any equipment specifically for this club - Do you even know you will enjoy training there yet?
  11. Get an Electronic, Bouyancy, or, most cheap, skinfold caliper test.
  12. But.. I did just hear the "Tone" word. Toning and Shaping does not happen. You are not building muscles to be more aesthetically pleasing without increasing their size by using a lower rep scheme. Tone is a combination of muscle size and low bodyfat. The only way one could "shape" the muscle is either to grow it all over, or to target an individual head of the muscle with specific exercises - which in my opinion, is a bit of a waste of time if you are aiming to put on some proper size and function strength. Stick to the compound exercises, lift heavy, eat lots, sleep lots. You'll grow and get stronger.
  13. Maestro don't worry, you don't sound like a jerk at all. You make some very good points, great info on the shoulders. If one is doing a Fullbody routine or Upper/Lower split, with less total sets per Bodypart, then yes I would agree with giving 2-3 days rest instead of a week. But in case of a split system (ie Chest/Tri on Monday) then those muscle groups get a lot of work. I would predict if you had a split system and also worked out each muscle group directly twice per week, you would be lifting 6 days a week or so? I would suggest being careful with this approach - one could get just as good gains I think with less time in the gym, and working that hard is bound to tax the CNS so I would recommend frequent breaks from training to allow the CNS to recover.
