I have not train Judo specifically. I do know that in Hapkido, the throws that we use are the same as the ones used in judo. We dont use as many of course. We use the shoulder throw in a few different variations as well as the hip throw. There are a couple more too. I think that the falling and rolling are also similar.

The Throws used in Hapkido are the same that traditional Jiu jitsu use.

Judo throws were modifed From Jiu jitsu in order to be "safe"..

In Hapkido and japanese jiu jitsu they have shoulder throws from armbars , which makes pop your shoulder or throws from wrist locks, etc... something very dangerous. So that kind of techniques Don't exist on Judo.

HAPKIDO is the way of coordinated power stressing non-resistance, circular motion, and strong kicking and striking techniques.

i was taught with the water principle.......with the properties of water being that of flowing, subtle power with a seeming intuition for any opening or weakness.......total penetration of an enemy's defenses.........water represents patience.

this was my teachings of hapkido.......

You are quite right Submission Fighter. The throws that you are talking about are used and are very dangerous. The throws that I am refering to are the ones that we practice with partners everyday in class. We cannot use these armbar throws and jointlock throws in a practice setting. While practicing these "judo type throws" we are able to get the body mechanics for the throw. This throw is basically the same, the grab or hold is the difference.
