Hey everybody. I just got home from my second class, and I want to know how to tie my belt so that another student won't have to show me next time.

Is there a website with illustrations that somebody could point me towards?

TIA!

This is a very common question. And after you have been in the dojo a while you will begin to truly appreciate the difficulties, and the humor in learning to tie your own belt, watching others try to figure it out and seeing just how they managed to make it look like that.

Here are some of the links to old threads on belts and their tying.

I still think - since some schools use the different tying methods - that old good "ask your sensei" -method works wonders here.

Thanks for the help.

Yes, I will ask my sensei again. He just showed me yesterday for the first time. I'd just like to impress him by doing it correctly the next class I have. :)

I had problems trying to learn how to tie the belt. Honestly, it took almost a month for me to learn. But practise is the key. :P

What's with everybody misspelling this word here? Is it an inside joke?

Weirdly enough, Merriam-Webster accepts that "misspelling". Potato, potatoe, tomato, tomatoe...
