Drunken Monkey Posted November 13, 2003 Posted November 13, 2003 it won't close unless people start to make daft comments... i've said this before about a similar thread. i can't say who WILL win but i know the one who loses will be the one who didn't prepare properly. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
SBN Doug Posted November 13, 2003 Posted November 13, 2003 I wouldn't be so sure. Some of you are getting really close to breaking these again. http://www.karateforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=9511#116329 Kuk Sool Won - 4th danEvil triumphs when good men do nothing.
WC-Strayder Posted November 14, 2003 Posted November 14, 2003 It had been and will be both ways I guess. It also have to do with the men/woman that fights, not just the style. Some people seems to believe that all they see on video is the god forsaken truth, but after what I had seen of the so called Wing Chun videos, and many others too, is that the practitioner aren't even close to being even beginners and have not prepared at all before they showed up. All I say is that it is stupid to jugde a style out of videos; even I can do better than most of the people shown on this videos and it all depens on who pratice the most I think. If the first lesson was a failure, then you know that skydiving isn't for you!

Seems every WC practicioner to ever fight in a torunament or challenge match across the planet " isint good" . Maybe that says something in general. Looking at it from a non biased point of view MT has held the upper hand over a broad span of fighters and events. it's statistics.
Drunken Monkey Posted November 16, 2003 Posted November 16, 2003 but statistics are nearly always horrendously sked/biased towards the side offering the numbers. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."

Drunken Monkey Posted November 16, 2003 Posted November 16, 2003 yes but the majority of videos showing a wing chun getting beat by a cetain style of often spread by the purveyors of that said style. the ever popular kyokushinkai (excuse my spelling...) one is a prime example. i'm sure you've all seen it, does that supposed wing chun guy look like he knows what he's doing? my point is, the origins of those videos are suspect which in turn means the statistics you based on them are suspect. (side note; i have no idea how many 'wing chun vs...' videos are out there and examples of wing chun guys in any major fight. any info would be appreciated) i'm not saying that wing chun wins. just wanted to point out what flaws statistics have. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
TJS Posted November 17, 2003 Posted November 17, 2003 I have seen 3 WC videos on the net so far. 1st one is WC vs Kyokushin-WC guy gets kicked in the Head an knocked out. 2nd) A WC guy puts up a challenge match for a large sum of money to anyone who can beat him...A NHB fighter named John Marsh fights him and breaks his arm making him tap out and scream like a girl... 3rd) a WC guy back in one of the early UFC's against a wrestelr named dave benatau..WC guy gets double legged..mounted and punched into a bloody mess within 15 seconds. I have heard quite a few stories of other fighters aswell. If there are more videos or stories of WC guys winning I would certainly love to see them...I have no biased about WC, why would I? I go by what i see and hear like everyone..If you have any videos or stories from the WC point of view i would love to see them.
Drunken Monkey Posted November 18, 2003 Posted November 18, 2003 well going back to the statistics thing (and my towards them). you gave three examples where you have seen the video. using your three sources, that's a 100% 'lose' argument for wing chun. but then that's only three videos. the first one is suspect (that's the one with the little clip of two guys slapping arms together, right?) as for the other two, i'll have a look... as for verbal accounts, there are many stories of wing chun guys taking on the world in hk back in the day but i don't take these to have much credit because i wasn't there and nor have i spoken to people who were there that is not connected with the wing chun schools. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
WC-Strayder Posted November 25, 2003 Posted November 25, 2003 It is 3 forms of lies and that is; A lie, a darn lie and statistics..... and yes, it says something in general, that some of you believe everything you see on videos. LOL. Everyone know, or should know, that it isn't purely the style you train in it all depence on, but also the practitioner of that style and s/he's abillity to use what s/he had learned. So train hard and fight eazy folks..... If the first lesson was a failure, then you know that skydiving isn't for you!
