Akima Posted September 27, 2003 Posted September 27, 2003 Anyone read that article in the sept issue of Black belt. It was a "test" comparing people who learn from "learn at home methods" vs going to a real dojo. the conclusion was that the people using video tapes at home were just as good. Thoughts? Personally, I think Blackbelt is trying to please 20% of their advertisers. While tapes are a great reference tool, I cannot believe they can replace an instructor.
Mole78 Posted September 27, 2003 Posted September 27, 2003 I would have to agree Akima, couln't think of any way that it could possibly be correct. Although of course it depends on the test. Keep an open mind
Darce Posted September 28, 2003 Posted September 28, 2003 Yeah, I agree too. Shukokai Karate, Orange belt ( 7. kyu)
shazaam Posted September 28, 2003 Posted September 28, 2003 I agree also. Akima rules with his brilliance as usual. Peace, Love, Harmony
shazaam Posted September 28, 2003 Posted September 28, 2003 Oh by the way, I beat my own instructor one time after watching some videotapes produced by: The Straight Blast Gym Peace, Love, Harmony
Tombstone Posted September 28, 2003 Posted September 28, 2003 They sell instructional videos in that magazine. Coincidence?
Mole78 Posted September 28, 2003 Posted September 28, 2003 Oh by the way, I beat my own instructor one time after watching some videotapes produced by: The Straight Blast Gym Did you throw it at him Keep an open mind
TicN9neZ8 Posted September 28, 2003 Posted September 28, 2003 I'd say people who actually train in a dojo are better then people who train by video, it is a completely different experience when you are trained with a group of people. Visit my new message boards! We need more members for the Martial Arts board, first that come will most likely mod the board.
shazaam Posted September 29, 2003 Posted September 29, 2003 mole78, I'll get you for that! Peace, Love, Harmony
