KickChick Posted November 20, 2002 Posted November 20, 2002 I was doing some reading and Jackie explains it best! Bruce kicks high, I kick lower; Bruce was serious, I'm comedy, Jackie is Jackie and Bruce is Bruce. Its a different style of approach. ---Jackie Chan
kicker Posted November 23, 2002 Posted November 23, 2002 Well you couldn't exactly tell which one could win because in the movies they might look awesome. But then in reality are Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan really that good and how much of a movie is fake? when you do your best it`s going to show. "If you watch the pros, You will learn something new"
LightFighterZero Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 I personally like Jackie chan because he mixes cool martial arts with comedy. "Defeat is not defeat unless it is accepted as reality in your own mind"
Ali Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 No doubt, Bruce Lee would win. Refer to Kicker's saying, both look awesome in movie. But what make Jackie Chan's action quick is by moving the film quickly. What Jackie Chan practise is called Northern style which is for show in Peking or Beijing Opera with many jumping or rolling on ground action. Surely, he can fight. Jackie devote his time on designing how to make action seemingly good. While Bruce Lee spent his time to find the most practical way of fighting. LightFighterZero Posted February 23, 2003 Posted February 23, 2003 Ali, Yeah well I guess u are right that Bruce Lee would probably win in a fight against each other. He is more the kinda guy that stands his ground and fights his heart out. If you ever watched a normal Jackie Chan movie, he is constantly being chased around by a gang of people. He uses his surroundings against the other people, but he rarely actually goes one on one against someone without using the environment around him. (ex. ladders, boxes, etc.) So I guess you would be right about Bruce lee winning but then again they both fight in a different sort of way. Ali Posted February 23, 2003 Posted February 23, 2003 Hi, Light Fighter Zero Without going into Kung Fu aspect. Anyway, Bruce is many of our idol. Jackie's fame is not that good in Hong Kong. Darkness grants me pair of dark black eye,Yet I determine to look for Brightness
Kyle-san Posted February 23, 2003 Posted February 23, 2003 Bruce kicks high, I kick lower; Bruce was serious, I'm comedy, Jackie is Jackie and Bruce is Bruce. Its a different style of approach. ---Jackie Chan Which is really kinda funny if you watch some of his earlier movies right around the time that Bruce died. You can see that Jackie is trying very hard to be the next Bruce Lee.
LightFighterZero Posted February 23, 2003 Posted February 23, 2003 Ali, Jackie isn't all that big in Hong Knog?? I never knew that. I always thought he was kinda big everywhere. Well from what I know here in the states, both made a big impression. Personally I think it would have been great to see the two in a movie together. Or a maybe a small little publicity sparring round or sumthing. Anyways how are things in HK? The last time I went there was a couple of years ago. From what I remeber it was are really cool place. Oh yeah and I agree with bth Kyle-san and kickchick. I mean probably before Jackie wanted to live up to be like Bruce Lee, but then later be probably realized that he wanted to make his own impression and not just mirror bruce lee's. DokterVet Posted February 23, 2003 Posted February 23, 2003 "I think it would have been great to see the two in a movie together." They were . Jackie was a stunt double and/or extra in a number of Bruce's films including Fists of Fury (the big boss) and Enter the Dragon. Or maybe you meant starring roles. Yes, that would have been cool. 22 years oldShootwrestlingFormerly Wado-Kai Karate
