alanseijas
I don't see anything wrong with practicing at 3:00 am. My parents own a shore house, and I love to go to the beach late and do kata when I visit. You have to watch your kicks, though; sand in the face! The patch or crest worn by Isshinryu karateka often raises admiration and curiosity. The patch is based on a day dream Tatsuo Shimabuku had in the fifties while he was creating his karate style. This dream was the missing piece in the puzzle called Isshinryu. The patch is often incorrectly called Mizu Gami, which means 'water goddess'. Originally the Isshinryu emblem was called 'Isshinryu No Megami', which means 'Goddess of Isshinryu'. The goddess is the Goddess of Isshinryu karate and not the goddess of water. alanseijas
Not to get off topic here, but quickly; shazaam (I remember that tv show BTW!), travel to https://www.isshin1.com for a good look at the Megami and her history. I have trained with Master Advincula, and he is as amazing as his patch. Rick E.
lol, yeah, it might be strange for some to do kata at 3:30, but the living room is very small and the kitchen is small too, so the only place is in the backyard.
alanseijas
Well Rick, it's been a couple of days now; have you been back outside late at night? Will you ever do it again, or has your experience changed you? The patch or crest worn by Isshinryu karateka often raises admiration and curiosity.
