bigpopparob2000 Posted September 24, 2003 Posted September 24, 2003 Is there a difference b/t how the two nunchucks perform, or is it just a matter of which nunchuck feels most comfortable in your hands?
TangSooGuy Posted September 24, 2003 Posted September 24, 2003 In my experience, shape really doesn't have much effect on performance, other than the fact that you will naturally perform better with something that feels more comfortable in your hand. Weight, balance, and thickness a more important performance factors, as well as the condition of the ball bearing if you are using chained nunchaku. The octagon shape would be used more to inflict cutting or gashing wounds on a real opponent, and to some provides a better grip that is less likely to slip out of their hands.
Warp Spider Posted September 24, 2003 Posted September 24, 2003 I would say the octagon is better, because of the better grip and the increased likelyhood of drawing blood. Really though it's a matter of preference, I think. Paladin - A holy beat down in the name of God!
IAMA_chick Posted September 24, 2003 Posted September 24, 2003 i think it is mostly for looks pretty much. Tae Kwon Do15-years oldpurple--belt
SaiFightsMS Posted September 25, 2003 Posted September 25, 2003 Octagonal nunchuks with cords are considered more traditional.
CloudDragon Posted September 25, 2003 Posted September 25, 2003 Octagonal will deliver a more penetrating blow if it hits on an edge, as the force is more focused, (think of a splitting axe) plus, they make a neat whistling sound as they cut through the air that isnt the same as the round A Black Belt is just a white belt that don't know when to quit!
