Kickbutt Posted October 16, 2001 Posted October 16, 2001 Hi everyone - well, I've decided to bite the bullet and enter my first competition this coming Saturday. I'm pretty excited and nervous of course. Royler Gracie will be there, as there's grappling competitions too and he and another fellow will be doing a demo at the end of the day, so I'm psyched!!! Anyways, one thing I think would be of great advantage to me is to be able to feint then attack, based on my opponent's reaction. Do any of you have any specific feinting strategies that you find work especially well for you? I'll be sparring with higher belts, so any advice regarding that would also be helpful. I've already got butterflies in my stomach...but I ain't gonna show it there - I'm gonna be one MEAN MOTHER!!! NO FEAR!!!! Karateka Posted October 16, 2001 Posted October 16, 2001 Let them think you are coming for a right hand punch by tourning your hip slightly and then go with a jab, then follow with any thing you want. "Never hit a man while he's down; kick him, its easier"Sensei Ron Bagley (My Sensei)

fabio_valente Posted October 20, 2001 Posted October 20, 2001 a good dummy move is a round kick or roundhouse to the thigh and then to the head, or the same low kick to the thigh but with a hook kick to the kick on the end Try these when they work they look great Fabio

moobrack Posted November 1, 2001 Posted November 1, 2001 I use the feint in basketball, one piece of advice if you don't mind! make sure that with the feint, that after you use it,you can recover into an effective point scoring technique.be positioned right! Kickbutt Posted November 1, 2001 Author Posted November 1, 2001 Oops...I'm sorry guys! I ended up getting sick and since I was to test for my blue belt a few days after, decided not to enter - I got my blue belt now though - woo hoo!! I got to see Royler Gracie - I know everyone says this, but he's much smaller in person! This apparently doesn't stop him, though! I just couldn't bring myself to go up to him and say hi though...I woulda felt like a complete idiot ! Thanks for asking guys! I'm entering the next competition though, so will let y'all know!
