Just curious, I just started training in it about a 3 weeks ago, I am in the Leadership program there so eventually I should become an instructor, but I have a ways before I'm ready for that, in that program the only belt you have until you reach Black Belt is a Gray leadership belt. My first belt graduation is in a a couple of weeks, I need to learn the form Chongi for that, but I have most of it down, still need to work on the ending parts, I still have time to work on it though so I'll be fine. So anyone train in HTF?

Tell me, what does HTF stand for? What qualifications did you have to have to get in this program? Did you have to sign a contract? How long will it take for your blackbelt?

To be honest, I don't know much about it, I've only been training in it for a month, it seems like basic tae kwon do, but it says HTF on the back of our uniforms, I think my instructor said it stands for Hae-Tra Form Tae Kwon Do, I'm not sure if the spelling is right, but it is something like that. There weren't really qualifications to get into the program, they have separate ones, Leadership and Master's Club, their pretty much the same but Leadership learns instructor skills to, they just put me in it because they like my attitude and work ethic and said I have potential to be one of their best students. I had to sign a 3 year contract, I'm not sure how long it will take to get a black belt there.

3 years???? Are you serious? 3 years is a pretty long time...if you love the school it goes by very fast, but if you're miserable, it's rough.

Hopefully, all will go well for you.

I Googled the HTF and found "Hellenic TKD". Are you from Greece by any chance?

EDIT:: I also found Hwaorang TKD.

I love the school so its not bad, if I didn't plan on staying I wouldn't of signed the contract, from what I've heard, my Senior Master was ranked 3rd in the world before she blew out her knee. BTW I'm from Bellingham, WA, its not Hellenic, it is something along the lines of H____ Tra Form TKD, the site is https://www.black-belt-academies.com it has the HTF logo on the site but it doesn't say the meaning.

Cool. I've read a little bit about Hwaorang Taekwondo (and I do mean a little bit). I think it started as a teenage army kind of thing...they were mainly archers. Yeah, that's all I know. Someone more educated will probably come along and correct me :)

I've heard of Hwarang-do, but not Hwarang-Taekwondo. I personally am not a proponent of contracts extending more than 6 months, quite simply because it is impossible to know what the future holds that far in advance, but if you are planning to be near the school for that long and enjoy what you are doing, go for it. Have fun, and my best wishes to you. :)

thanx for the good wishes CloudDragon, I plan on staying there for a long time. They are ranked in the top 200 schools in the national. My Senior Master placed 3rd in Nationals, but she got injured in a car accident and it kinda hampered her abilities, she is still incredible though.

Yeah 3 years is a long time. And those programs...like the masters club or whatever sound like euphemisms for different contracts. The association for Hwa Rang Do is the World Hwa Rang Do Association but this place sounds like it maybe teaches both. In the end if you are learning good stuff and like the place 3 years is no problem. And it really doesnt matter if you have your black belt at the end or not. If a white belt trains long enough he can beat anyone no matter that hes not a black belt.

Long Live the Fighters!
