Slim Posted October 16, 2001 Posted October 16, 2001 Can anyone who has trained with one of these give me their opinion, do you think they are worth using? I like the idea of improving accuracy, and do they teach you to dodge and weave a bit? I do two days at training a week with heavy bags and thai pads, Ide like something to have at home to break it up that I can use on my own. I shadow box and do weights at home. Any other good training aids out there?
kicker Posted October 18, 2001 Posted October 18, 2001 i might know but could you give me a breif explainion??? when you do your best it`s going to show. "If you watch the pros, You will learn something new"
Slim Posted October 20, 2001 Author Posted October 20, 2001 I can do better than that: If you go to this site... http://www.whitecollarboxing.com/WCBKickboxLesson1.htm and watch the "slipbag" clip (top row 4th from left) you can see a guy using one. From what Ive read they are hard to get used to. 20 minutes every other day on one of those babys looks like a challange. I wanted a bit of feedback before I start drilling holes in my garage floor. Dont be shy: if you like/dont like using it please tell me!
thaiboxerken Posted October 20, 2001 Posted October 20, 2001 That's a pretty decent training aid, you can learn how to slip with it, bob and weave may be a little harder to do because of the string that might stop you on the bottom. This is more of a timing drill and it takes getting used to. Remember to keep the training "alive" by using footwork and keeping your mind in the training. kicker Posted October 20, 2001 Posted October 20, 2001 thats cool now i see what you mean i bit better!! when you do your best it`s going to show. "If you watch the pros, You will learn something new"
boxer Posted October 24, 2001 Posted October 24, 2001 We used it alot in boxing. Good for punching combo's and such. First start with the jab by getting used to timing of the bag. Good start is to do this: Jab, Jab, slip, Jab Jab, Right, Jab, slip This will get you started...Remeber to take off power and concentrate on making contact with the bag (this will improve hand/eye coor.) Hope this helps.
kicker Posted November 2, 2001 Posted November 2, 2001 Slim well heres some tips! well if you have a medium boxing bag hang it up and practice going under and back still looking at bag! also maybe do pushups like sit-ups run...ect!! when you do your best it`s going to show. kicker Posted November 2, 2001 Posted November 2, 2001 okay then all try to explain it better! well say have a boxing bag about to your upper leg to about middle of stomache!!then have your fists up to your cheeks or eyebrows or where ever you prefer! then just go down using your legs only not moving and having a straight back the go up do that a few times once you are good at it then bend down the same but look at the bag still and move your head underneath the bag and lift ytour body up and then go the other way OR get someone to punch hook shoots at you then down what you did at the boxing bag and then hopefully you will bet better!! hope this helps! when you do your best it`s going to show.
