jdash Posted October 15, 2001 Posted October 15, 2001 hmmm...you are going to have to get somebody else to answer your question currently, my school doesn't grade in Judo just teaches it (that is supposed to change sometime just hasn't yet) so while I know moves, etc. technicalities like that I am not sure of. Karateka_latino Posted October 16, 2001 Posted October 16, 2001 well as far as i know, No, you don't get his belt. You have to go through all the training and learn the techniques and then you get your belt, just like on the other martial arts.
TKD_McGee Posted October 22, 2001 Posted October 22, 2001 Ive never heard of that. But I always see lower rank people beat high rank people using common submission holds. Its a common thing. Do unto others, as they done to you.

I've seen that too, in judo i've watched and in tkd - the higher ranks sometimes try to be too flasy - stick to basics! 1st dan Tae Kwon DoYellow Belt Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu16 Years OldGirls kick butt!
Tobias_Reece Posted January 21, 2002 Posted January 21, 2002 Moobrack I have heard that some Martial Arts schools do use this system - to get the next belt, you had to defeat an opponent who was higher graded than you. In fact, when we get new members to the club, they often say "do i have to fight someone and beat then for my next grade, cos that what my Grandad says" C ya "You Are Never Given A Dream Without Also Being Given The Power To Make It True.
