It was a fairly good question. I certain areas martial arts tattoos may be popular but it is not a universal practice.

nothing wrong with a tattoo, but if it pretains to martial arts, have it done somewhere it's not readily noticed....why spoil the element of surprise :brow: .

Muay Thai fighters often have tattoos the most comon is a tiger or leopard on the upper arm/deltoid area. My old instructor also used to have a buddist prayer of strength and protection tattooed on his neck.

a guy a my school got "Tong Moo Do" (our school) written in Korean on his leg after he received his Black Belt.

 

It was by choice though, not required. actually, I think he wsa the first to do it.
