Sho-ju Posted September 20, 2003 Posted September 20, 2003 My brother is fighting in his first MMA match. He teaches shotokan with me and his base is shotokan. We also do jiu jitsu/judo and box. Wish us luck!
Tibby Posted September 20, 2003 Posted September 20, 2003 Yeah, I wish you both luck! Let us know how he does.
Darce Posted September 21, 2003 Posted September 21, 2003 Good luck!!! Shukokai Karate, Orange belt ( 7. kyu)
Sho-ju Posted September 21, 2003 Author Posted September 21, 2003 HE WON, HE WON! Chris my brother (see pic on my website) won the fight in under 2 min. SHOTOKAN BABYYYYYY. He fought a guy with 13 years training in Mauy Thai, Chris's stand up has been changed a little to reflect full contact fighting (more then self defence) and look good. The thai guy clinched and Chris picked him up with an upper body lock and slammed him (I'm hoping to add pic's of this next week) and his mouth piece popped out. Chris applied a head and arm choke and that was it. Shotokan put out a good showing that night and we return in 2 months to fight again. Mady's Isshin Ryu Club was there and look awsome and we made connection with a full contact Goju Ryu club and another full contact Isshin ryu club.... OSU!
Beer-monster Posted September 21, 2003 Posted September 21, 2003 Congratulations!!!!! Score a point for karate. Mind, body and fist. Its all a man truly needs.
G95champ Posted September 21, 2003 Posted September 21, 2003 Glad to hear an ex of shotokan winning a MMA event. LOL Its not the art is the person using it. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
YoungGrasshopper Posted September 24, 2003 Posted September 24, 2003 yah what's your website though? I'm interested in seeing the pictures.
Sasori_Te Posted September 24, 2003 Posted September 24, 2003 Congratulations! Always nice to hear abouta karate person doing well at one of those things. A block is a strike is a lock is a throw.
