So would I be right in saying that Pankration is a style that advocates striking over grappling: more punching than kicking, and lots of close range striking. When they grapple it's usually limb destructions, strangles, or injurous takedowns, techniques that keep them standing. If the fight does go to the ground, they will try to finish it off by striking before going into a grappling hold if need be. (Although they are good at both. :D )

Does anyone know of Pankration classes or seminars in the UK, preferably North West England/Norh East Wales, or in and around Dublin, Ireland.

BJJ - take the guy to the ground.

 

Pankration - finish it standing up or make sure only he goes down.

 

BJJ - grappling over striking.

 

Pankration - striking over grappling.
