superfighter Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 Can anyone here tell me the differences between kickboxing and savate? becasue to me they look the same
cross Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 depends what type of kickboxing your talking about. american , thai. Savate is french foot fighting.
superfighter Posted September 17, 2003 Author Posted September 17, 2003 im talkin about american kickboxing, not muay tai
WhiteShark Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 For one thing traditionally Savate fighters wear shoes! Savate actually means shoe or slipper in French. Rock Paper ScissorPunch Knee Kick^ME^ ^MY DOJO^
Northren Ogre Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 American Kickboxing you have to use so many kicks per round(7 I belive), and they all have to be above the waist. I don't know too much about Savate. http://prkickboxing.tripod.com
wrestlingkaratechamp Posted September 18, 2003 Posted September 18, 2003 American kickboxing is much more well rounded
Thuggish Posted September 21, 2003 Posted September 21, 2003 from what i understand (and im no expert with savate) savate is virtually all kicks with little or no punches at all. a boxer could take one rather easily. a broken arm throws no punches
iolair Posted September 21, 2003 Posted September 21, 2003 from what i understand (and im no expert with savate) savate is virtually all kicks with little or no punches at all. a boxer could take one rather easily. You're behind the times ... Savate was like this, until a Savateur was trounced in (I think) the 18th Century by an English boxer. After that, Savate incorporated the moves from Western Boxing. (Strictly, It's now known as "Savate - Boxe Francaise"). One distinction from other forms of kickboxing is that it's done wearing hard shoes, which allows strikes to be made with the toes. This gives the Savateur a few inches useful extra reach against those who thought they were just out of kicking range! Currently: Kickboxing and variants.Previously: Karate (Seido, Shotokan, Seidokan), Ju Jitsu, Judo, Aikido, Fencing.
sano Posted September 22, 2003 Posted September 22, 2003 no you ment to say that when savate boxers kick they always aim for the head. they use a lot of jump spin kicks too. falcon kick!!!
Drunken Monkey Posted September 22, 2003 Posted September 22, 2003 they don't always aim for the head. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
