Sho-ju Posted September 13, 2003 Posted September 13, 2003 I going to a sem this Sunday, we are studying the two above kata with bunkai. Does anyone know how many verison of each exist? (I'm learning the Matsubayashi ryu verisons)
SaiFightsMS Posted September 13, 2003 Posted September 13, 2003 I know the matsubayashi version of ananku and the shotokan version of wankan.
stl_karateka Posted September 18, 2003 Posted September 18, 2003 I know the Matsubayshi versions of both. I believe at least 3 different versions exist....but I only know the Matsu version KarateForums.com Sempai
Sho-ju Posted September 19, 2003 Author Posted September 19, 2003 Ananku is a nice short kata and we will be studying other Okinawan kata...
SaiFightsMS Posted September 19, 2003 Posted September 19, 2003 I like the slide steps in Ananku - the way they help you learn to be a bit more evasive in your maneuvers. And I like the way it emphasizes the side block. Modify that side block a bit and scoop catch a kick and your sparring partner sits down in a hurry.
