Warp Spider Posted September 15, 2003 Posted September 15, 2003 y'know, in a not unrelated manner i jsut wanna tell of of this odd law we have in england. in the city of york, if you can prove that a scotsman is invading, you are legally allowed to kill that man... Heh, similarly a friend of mine has a law where he lives that states you are allowed to shoot at people chasing you on horseback, but only if you are riding in a covered wagon. ZR440 Posted September 15, 2003 Posted September 15, 2003 If they have intent on doing harm, you best make sure they don't leave your house alive. Keeps them from suing you later when they've healed up. It's happy hour somewhere in the world.
battousai16 Posted September 15, 2003 Posted September 15, 2003 "it depends on if my family is in danger" this is indeed a large issue. "I hear you can kill 200 men and play a mean six string at the same time..."-Six String Samurai
shotokanwarrior Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 All there swords hanging around the bed room You guys must not have little kids? I would use whatever was by me like a pillow or blanket ( if thrown at the face will give you time to attack). not to many people will want to face a big nekked dude who was just woken up Where Art ends, nature begins.
Warp Spider Posted September 18, 2003 Posted September 18, 2003 Well, if the swords are properly restrained it wouldn't be a problem. I keep a compact assaultrifle and 7.62mm High Powered Rifle in my bedrooms, along with a 9mm handgun, but my nephew (who lives with me) knows full well not to go in there. AnonymousCoward Posted September 18, 2003 Posted September 18, 2003 I just thought that I'd tell you about Tony Martin a farmer in the UK who woke up to find two people robbing his house. He grabbed his shotgun (pump action - therefore illegal in the UK) and shot the first one (he later found out it was a 16 year old boy) at close range in the back killing him instantly. The second man ran out and across his field - Mr Martin then followed him and shot him in the legs injuring him. Mr Martin served two thirds of a five year sentence (it is normal to only serve two thirds of a sentence in the UK if you behave whilst in prison), originally he was to serve a life sentence (25 years) for murder but a successful appeal showed that he had "diminished responsibility" at the time. He is now being sued for damages by the other man and is hounded by reporters and threats from criminals and is under constant police protection. The entire case history can be viewed here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/martin/0,2759,214318,00.html Although I'd feel happiest using a combat knife as a weapon, I think it's a bit too lethal against a burgular since it's far too easy to kill them so I'd rather confront them with tonfa or just empty handed. If I had edged weapons or projectile weapons in the house, they would be locked up anyway so by the time I've retrieved my weapons, I may as well have phoned the Police too.
Martial_Artist Posted September 18, 2003 Posted September 18, 2003 Not to enter a debate, but the thieves shouldn't have been in someone else's house if they didn't want to get shot and killed. When someone enters your house you know nothing of this person or their intentions. A 16 yr old boy can kill you as well as a 35yr old. Are you willing to take that chance? What if the 16 yr old had been armed with a gun and had the intention of killing everyone in the house? How would you know? Confront him with a stick? Are you willing to stake your life on a few precious seconds? Someone in your house under those circumstances should know full well the risks they are taking, that includes losing their life over it. Perhaps if more criminals knew they'd be shot by entering someone else's house they wouldn't enter? Defend your home and your family to the death. After all is said and done that's all you have. If you do not have a gun then arm yourself someway. Mercy for the thugs? Do you think they'll be merciful? ZR440 Posted September 18, 2003 Posted September 18, 2003 Exactly. Shoot first and ask questions later. Sounds barbaric, but it's nothing more than survival. It's happy hour somewhere in the world.
JerryLove Posted September 18, 2003 Posted September 18, 2003 The man was not jailed for shooting to defend his home... The man was jailed for coming downstairs with a shotgun, to a booby-trapped room where his dogs had already attacked a pair of burglars who were attempting to fell and pleading for their lives as he shot one then persued the other across a field and shot him too. That's a little different than "defending your home because you are afraid". https://www.clearsilat.com
Radok Posted September 18, 2003 Posted September 18, 2003 If I had some distance I would throw the shurikan at him, if he was close I would smack him with the nunchaku, a hit with a nunchaku over the top of the head would probably split the skin... or at least make a would be attacker cry. If you can't laugh at yourself, there's no point. No point in what, you might ask? there's just no point. Many people seem to take Karate to get a Black Belt, rather than getting a Black Belt to learn Karate.
