Dragonfire Posted September 9, 2003 Posted September 9, 2003 Hey guys. I just ordered a shinai for 25 bucks at karate depot.com. It was made in Japan and is made of bamboo. So what do you guys prefer a shinai or sword? I personally preffer a shinai because of its light weight. "Fooleshness is not courage, but courage can lead to fooleshness."

Dragonfire Posted September 10, 2003 Author Posted September 10, 2003 What do you mean? "Fooleshness is not courage, but courage can lead to fooleshness."
tommarker Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 i think that is what HE is asking YOU! I'm no longer posting here. Adios.
SaiFightsMS Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 I would like to train with a shinai one day.
Bdaze Posted September 11, 2003 Posted September 11, 2003 i assume you mean to train with. in which case i'd absolutley take a shinai. you can drop it, hit someone with it, hit yourself with it etc. basically screw up and not die plus when you hit another Kendoka with your shinai it makes a distinct sound when exicuted correctly. thats the only reason theyre made of split bamboo, to make the sound. if you're talking about which would win in a battle, i'd say shinai hands down. i mean seriously, those things hurt! KaratekaAikidoist Posted October 13, 2003 Posted October 13, 2003 I'd choose sword over shinai but bokken over sword
