Neil Posted September 9, 2003 Posted September 9, 2003 Go onto the website in my signiture, and go onto his biography or whatever you want. What do you think, Neil
superleeds Posted September 9, 2003 Posted September 9, 2003 Very interesting to say the least. It would have been very inspiering to train with Mr Morris. i especially like how mr morris finds the various connections of martial arts and put that together with a wast knowledge of figthing "knowhow" and alot of insight in how the human body works... Read a book!
WhiteShark Posted September 9, 2003 Posted September 9, 2003 interesting. Who are his current NHB fighters? Rock Paper ScissorPunch Knee Kick^ME^ ^MY DOJO^
Goju1 Posted September 9, 2003 Posted September 9, 2003 whew, sounds like a serious bad-* (and doesn't mind telling us about it either ) Pretty inspiring reading though, I must say, i would not want to piss this guy off!!!
Neil Posted September 11, 2003 Author Posted September 11, 2003 I have to say this was not the respone I thought I was gonna get, if any response at all! Infact one of Steve Morris's students is on this forum and his name on here is Truthseeker. My teacher has trained with him and he has told me that on some occasions he often thought if he was gonna come out alive. The crucial thing here is perspective. For example my teacher does not like sport as it is not a real fight since you have to have rules and a refferee. But what Steve is into is something as close to the real thing as possible. I don't agree with him on kata, but I think maybe NHB should be incooperated? Neil
AnonymousCoward Posted September 12, 2003 Posted September 12, 2003 I think that I feel sorry for him. Sounds like he's had a hard life. It's a common expression that "violence begets violence" and he sure sounds like he's good at violence after all that abuse he took as a child. Without meeting him, I couldn't say much more as I don't know him - but maybe he could do with some therapy, possibly some anger / conflict management sessions! From his stories the mans' first reaction to anything he didn't like was to try and fight it out rather than to talk it out. Still, that would make a whole bunch of cr***y stories wouldn't it Still, I'm making assumptions about a man I don't know... so I'll shut up. His training methods look sound to me, but no way am I ready for them! They're fairly expensive too unless you intend to go pro.
Goju1 Posted September 12, 2003 Posted September 12, 2003 I think its a matter of perspective too. It depends what you want (and what you can handle) out of the martial arts. I would have loved to train with a guy like this 25 years ago, but now at 49 with a business and family, a serious injury would spell disaster! Plus I am into the tradition, katas, and all that. But certainly there is a place for this type of training for those who want to be 'as tough as possible'. Is it a martial art? I don't know. Certainly could be. Whatever, its an interesting post, thanks!!!
