bigpopparob2000 Posted October 1, 2003 Posted October 1, 2003 I doubt he could bench 400lbs, but I'm sure he was in shape. Physical fitness and martial arts go hand in hand.
The Saint Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 It might be possible, for one reason he had shorter arms that larger people. I have notice a person that is shorter doesn't have to move the weight as far as a tall person does. So it could be possible. But 400lbs is alot of weight too....it could be just a myth "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to go to his class." Choi, Hong Hi ITF Founder
Goju1 Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 It is technically possible - being a long time gym owner/personal trainer I have seen pretty incredible things. As a matter of fact, about 10 years ago, a japanese man who weighed only 140 lbs had a record (for his weight class) of 540 lbs documented in competition. The current record is almost 900 lbs!! (by a 300+ lb man)
KwicKixJ1 Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 i heard that he could do a ridiculous amount of repetitions. which i think is more impressive than 400 pounds once.
Mole78 Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 400 pounds must be pushing 3 * his body weight though. If its true thats alot of weight. Keep an open mind
