NightShade_UK Posted September 7, 2003 Posted September 7, 2003 i very kinda dumb asking this question but here it goes anyway... how do i have to wash my TKD dobok after training? anything special to keep in mind? i dont want it to get smelly because of my sweat, which will be in it over and over again. thanks.
TKDLadyInSC Posted September 7, 2003 Posted September 7, 2003 Very few questions are dumb, and this is not a dumb one. 1. wash uniform after every workout 2. wash uniform in cold water (prevents shrinking) 3. do not dry in the dryer 4. do not use chlorine bleach (will make yellow) 5. pretreat problem spots (under arms) Number 5 is important. Sweat and deodorant tend to collect here (especially for guys). By the time you see the stain, it's too late to fix. There are pretreaters in stores made just for sweat/deodorant stains, use them. Hope this is helpful! 1st Degree Black BeltTaeKwonDo
karatekid1975 Posted September 7, 2003 Posted September 7, 2003 I agree with TKDLadyInSC. I do dry mine in the dryer, though. But I use low heat. It also depends on what brand dobok you have. The Centery brand shrinks no matter what you do. So if you have one of those, don't put it in the dryer. Laurie F
Cybren Posted September 7, 2003 Posted September 7, 2003 Yeah, Karate Kid, I didn't find that out untill it was too late.
IAMA_chick Posted September 7, 2003 Posted September 7, 2003 i just wash mine in the washer and dry it in the dryer. i don't wash it after every class b/c i would have to wash it nearly everyday. Tae Kwon Do15-years oldpurple--belt
karatekid1975 Posted September 7, 2003 Posted September 7, 2003 I had to, cause I sweat like a guy. Now I have three uniforms. Much easier as far as washing goes Laurie F
tufrthanu Posted September 8, 2003 Posted September 8, 2003 All I do is wash in cold water and hang dry. I use StainStick for any tough spots. Mine is a macho and I have had it for three years of medium use(3 to 4 hours per week). I only wash it about once a week or sometimes in the summer more if it needs it. So far there is no discoloration. Long Live the Fighters!
SBN Doug Posted September 8, 2003 Posted September 8, 2003 What, no one likes the knee high dobak look?? Kuk Sool Won - 4th danEvil triumphs when good men do nothing.
ZR440 Posted September 8, 2003 Posted September 8, 2003 I like to cut the material out under the armpit area. Saves money on pretreatment. It's happy hour somewhere in the world.
karatekid1975 Posted September 8, 2003 Posted September 8, 2003 LOL Doug. No, I don't. But I wish we were allowed to where t-shirts in the summer Laurie F
