Hey i recently started looking into Quigong(Chi Kung) and well i find that it is really interesting. however i have a couple questions.

1) Is the practice "lifting the sky" used to clear blockages of your chi flow?

2) What does the practice "Raising the moon" do?

3) Does "Abdominal breathing" increase your energy store?

any information from someone that studies quigong would be great!! Thanks!

That's not a function I use it for; like most any qigong, it's a possible result.

3) Does "Abdominal breathing" increase your energy store?

The short answer is "yes". "Qi" means "breath" and abdominal breathing is moving air (breath) into your dan-tien. It also exchanges more air in your lungs and uses more of your lungs for exchanging oxygen and waste gasses.

Deep breathing transfers oxygen to your blood faster... fast breathing transfers CO2 out of your blood faster.

if you perform the two meditations you mentioned with the circulations you may invite problems.

generally, introductory meditations are primarily taught for grounding and clearing.

those two have a similar movement. a similar one is 'Jolly Siddartha Separates Heaven and Earth' which incorporates a rapid squat with a rapid push of the hands skyward such that your palms face the sky with the fingers pointed inwards. as you hold this position stretch such that your middle is stretched by your torso going up and your pelvis going down. hold for 11 seconds. do it as one fluid motion, exhaling as you squat and stretch. repeat 10 or 20 times.

Ah! Mantis Grasshopper, i think you would do very nicely on a bowl of rice!
