Karateka was correct, Kickbutt. So we start at 9th gup white belt at my school and count down to a "0" blackbelt canidate that is sort of between colored belt gups and black belt Dans. Other schools may start at 10th gup and call a BB canidate 1st gup from what I understand. Just a way to track your progress.

I have never heard of degree's in shaolin kung-fu. Degree being a Japanese reference like dojo. In fact Chinese arts typically do not have belts.

For that matter as well Northern/Southern divison is another misconception. It's a misconception based on Chinese idiomatic literacy forms, where word order is not rigidly fixed.

"Nan quan, bei tui" - Southern fist, northern legs.

But there is a saying for Hung-Gar and Choy Lay Fut "Nan tui, bei quan" -south legs, north fists. Both the previous noted styles are "southern", but make extensive use of legs for kicking and have wide open postures.

Now I know why you deleted the "Kung Fu Belt" thread on me three times GoldDragon.

Iron--I am tired of people fightning in my Kung Fu setion saying diferent things about different arts. Thats what sucks about the arts. We may have the same style but taught in different ways. Either we call them dojos or not, or (etc).

I have deleted it "KUNG FU BELTS"cause it was going to far.

Thanks

Enough! You have proved your point. If you have a problem, lodge a complaint. You are correct in the fact that it was unwise to do this in public. I do not mind one post, that is fine. I will not delete them, nor will I recommend it. If you would like to lodge a formal complain, do so in accordance with regulations. Message Pat, or any other Moderator. If you do not wish to proceed any further, I would ask you to stop posting on the subject. I will not close the topic, because others may still want to discuss. For now, this is over.

GoldDragon, I am not over impulsive. I have been here longer than you. I know what happens. I dealt with this because it could have gotten worse, much worse.
