Grappling arts vs Striking Arts

Recommended Posts

I'm working on it, I will tell you my discoveries as I find them.

If you can't laugh at yourself, there's no point. No point in what, you might ask? there's just no point.

Many people seem to take Karate to get a Black Belt, rather than getting a Black Belt to learn Karate.

I'll pass through the guard with my knife.

 This guy has a damn good sense of humor! ROTFL!! It's funny because I was thinking the same thing, seems as if taijitsu has some techniques for cheating as well.

No but seriously can you imagine the damage a trained knife fighter can do in that position? It would be brutal! Just imagine the onlookers faces when they see that, they would all be like :o

Tapped out, knocked out, or choked out...Take your pick.

1. Spite is a funny word. sorry.

2.Actually, I was told they were there by one of the few 7'th degree black belts of the system.

3. this is funny. There is a Karate practitioner of three years telling you it has ground fighting and you tell me it doesn't. I guess it's just in my imagination then right?

Actually some of the kata of the okinawin styles can be interpreted as groudfighting/grappling moves such as an armbar and the like. And they do train to strike from the ground effectively as well. Check out bushido-kai.com to learn of these applications.

Yes. In passai dai, there is an armbar which I believe was meant for the ground.

Taijutsu is all about cheating. It's a very manipulative MA.

It would seem to me that when a person is very close, a master of pressure points and vital areas would be able to hurt them quite badly. Why has nobody mentioned this?

George dillman wrote an article in Black belt magazine about how a "pressure point striker" could walk through the competition at the UFC..Luckily they gave him a chance to show everyone. Go rent UFC 7 and watch his top student Ryan Parker Get thrown and Choked out in the first round by a judoka name Remco Pardoe.
