Recommended Posts

i don't know.

that's why i asked.

y'know? that's what a question mark denotes: a question...

I don't really like goldberg or chris benoit, however, I think they would have a serious chance against the gracies. Not because of any special ability in grappling, but merely the fact that they're really big and strong. It would be difficult to maintain a hold on nearly any WWE "superstar" because they are very strong and athletic and could "brute force" their way out of nearly any hold. Most BJJ holds and grappling moves (to my knowledge) are based mostly around using your weight and using mechanical advantage (leverage) to manipulate the other person's body. But, when you're talking about guys that can lift 300 pounds with one arm, you have to question how effective something like an armbar would really be. It would be about the equivalent of a full-grown man fighting a 12 year old boy. Even though the boy may have a lot more skill, I think that the man would still have a shot.

Likewise I think that goldberg would have a serious chance, even without any real grappling experience.

Lets destroy this argument real quick shall we...

second bob sapp does not know what he is doing thats why he only throws two punches

Bob Sapp has trained with several world class fighters including Mo Smith and Josh Barnett. he has also won two of his fights by submission..one by arm bar and one by guillotine.

goldberg on the other hand knows how to kick, punch and some holds.

No goldberg is a fictional character and dosent really fight. he knows pro wrestling holds..not real submissions.

and on top of that Sapp is alot bigger and stronger than goldberg.

These guys are prowrestlers, not fighters, none of them would do well with out tons of training, which makes this the same as asking what other person in good shape would be able to do well in MMA with training. Shoot, Goldberg would be dead meat, he has crappy stamina in the ring as it is, and that is with out getting hit himself.

the thing is sano, you seem to think that the wrestling guys are all skilled fighters when the are more like skilled athletes/performers.

as warp spider says, they won't be winning on any technical merit, just brute force.

There are a few wrestlers currently in WWE that have some real talent when it comes to the mat. However, the moves they perform are obviously not being used to their full effect since it's a show. A performance. Entertainment.

Besides, Goldberg is one of the last I'd pick to represent pro wrestlers, he honestly knows very few technical moves.

Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Bob "hardcore" Holly, Al Snow (who trained Dan Severn for his ufc debut)

Taz, And Brock Lestner would do very well in any grappling match against anyone. These guy are in serious condition year round and have some serious martial arts and grappling backgrounds. Especially Kurt Angle.

Tapped out, knocked out, or choked out...Take your pick.
