Raminhos Posted September 1, 2003 Posted September 1, 2003 Lets start a new discussion!!! Who is better in the martial arts movies? To me there are two man that will be always the best: Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan. Despite the fact that Jackie Chan does comedy movies he is the best since Bruce Lee. And he doesn't use stunts. In fact, most of the martial art artist that came from the Chinese Opera School are among the best. Remember Jackie Chan's friends Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao. One of the most important aspects on his movies is the fact that the fights look like street fight. We fights with everyone at the same time, gets hurt and even sometimes we can't see what's happening, with all that mess!!! Other good aspect is the fact that the fight scenes choreography are made by him or by other chinese. In fact the films with Jet Li and other guys are getting better because they are getting more similiar with Jackie Chan movies, on the fighting scenes. sano Posted September 1, 2003 Posted September 1, 2003 jackie chan sux. tell me why his opponents are far more skilled and talented than he is but yet by some miracle he still wins way?? falcon kick!!!
Drunken Monkey Posted September 1, 2003 Posted September 1, 2003 and that was a comment from a kid who cannot tell film fiction from reality... if you cannot see the amount of effort and skill he puts into making the scenes then maybe you should stay quiet. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
sano Posted September 1, 2003 Posted September 1, 2003 your so cruel. who cares how much effort he puts in he still is not realistic. how in the world does he beat these guys he's not flexible. he is a little out of shape all of his opponets are better than him they can kick higher than him have more speed and techniques than jackie, hell his cartoon can fight better than him he needs to sit down and pass the torch to somebody who deserves it like Ernie Reyes jr. falcon kick!!!
Raminhos Posted September 1, 2003 Author Posted September 1, 2003 I'm sorry Sano, but what do you know about Jackie Chan? Because Jackie is famous for his flexibility and for your knowledge he has 50 years old! Of course he cannot have the same flexibility until the end of his days!!!! When he stops acting he will be a great stunt and martial arts choreography director and a great help to future fighters that want to do good martial art films. The problem of some martial art artist is not only their quality but also the quality of who is behind the scenes!!! And Jackie Chan with more than 35 years in martial arts is one of the best as an artist and director. Raminhos (Portugal) Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless, like water...
Drunken Monkey Posted September 1, 2003 Posted September 1, 2003 you say he is not flexible? have you seen him train? have you seen the things he can do? you say he is out of shape? compared to who/what? i know i say not to judge from the films but get hold of "gorgeous". it's not a brilliant film but it has some cracking fight sequences and you can see some of the the things he can do (like full stretch press ups etc etc...) but then if that is what you think then he has done his job well because he, on screen, is not not meant to be some kind of super human. you say "somebody who deserves it". does this mean you don't think jackie deserves his success? you say that a lot of his opponents on screen can kick higher. is this your judge of good technique and skill? you say he is not realistic. my question is what is realistic in films? he creates fight scenes. these have rhythm, pace, beat, flow. realism has nothing to do with it. if you then say that his version of a fight scene for a film is bad then i'd like to ask you to name a good reasitic fight scene. i've always said that the normal, non martial arts public will never appreciate good technique because they don't know that they are watching them. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
sano Posted September 1, 2003 Posted September 1, 2003 realistic fight scene bruce lee against chuck norris. the reason why i say to somebody who deserves it cause you have somebody like ernie reyes jr. train in martial arts all life, kickboxer which means he has real fight experence on like jackie, but no body still will not give ernie a real chance. And any way gorgeus is an perfect example the guy was way better than jackie but some how he won any way and the jump spinning heel kick jackie did i know it took a couple of try's for him to get that high. plus that movie kind of old right. another example remember (i forgot the name of the movie) where jackie chan was fighting in the casino everytime jackie preformed a spinning air kick it was not him it was a stunt double or they would position the camera show you could not see his face if you do not belive me watch the movie and slow it down when it comes to that part. Rush Hour 2 come on the man was about to have a heart attack. he did like one kick out of the whole movie. and if jackie chan is a true martial artist than he would still be flexible now. falcon kick!!!
Drunken Monkey Posted September 1, 2003 Posted September 1, 2003 if you do a little bit of research you will see that jackie has trained with a lot of the "superstar" martial artists in the past... and you keep gong on about how he isn't flexible. on what do you base this remark? sounds like you just like to see fancy high flying spins and kicks. if that's what you want, go download a few wushu vids... post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
