Unfortunately the answer on several occassions. Due to the fact I work in law enforcement, situations have come up, and I have had to defend myself or others.

This has also included and empty hand (me) vs. a knife weilding assailant. Scary situations like this make me thankful for the years of hard training in Kung-fu.

I have used it once in the street all my life.

I was assaulted by a dude and I took him down with a sweep for defense.

I live in a very safe place and I never need my kung fu. (even i am taking teakwondo, remember, kung fu means hard work and abilty)

But, I organized fights, I rule over all of the non trainners, somtimes, even a handicap match, one vs. 3 or 4.(you know us high school punks, always trying to get hurt)
