When you test for Black Belt.....

for my dad's black belt testing, everyone was locked in a gym for a week and had to do 1000 reps of each technique, and also do 1000 push-ups, sit-ups, and other stuff. then for kumite, it was a 3 on 1. this was back in the day though in japan. does anybody do this in america?
