thaiboxerken Posted June 28, 2001 Posted June 28, 2001 I think a great strategy is to KO the opponent with basics first. Then throw the spinning kicks after he's lost. That way you get to show off and still be safe. Just kick 'em, they'll understand.- Me Apprentice Instructor under Guro Inosanto in Jun Fan Gung Fu and Filipinno Martial arts.Certified Instructor of Frank Cucci's Linxx system of martial arts.
DIABLO Posted July 11, 2001 Posted July 11, 2001 Spinning kicks are dangerous to your target, but are also danderous to use. The power created with a spining back kick is devestating. If ever landed cleanly I don't care who you are, your going down!!!! They are flashy, but also valueable to anyone who wants to be a complete fighter. U just have to learn when to use them and when not to. keep your hands up!!
thaiboxerken Posted July 11, 2001 Posted July 11, 2001 I've seen the spinning kick land cleanly and not phase a person. I think the power of a good round-kick is much more devastating and can be delivered over and over again without opening up to your opponent. Spinning kicks have too many dangerous factors involved. Just kick 'em, they'll understand.- Me Apprentice Instructor under Guro Inosanto in Jun Fan Gung Fu and Filipinno Martial arts.Certified Instructor of Frank Cucci's Linxx system of martial arts.

Sorry if I misunderstood.. but what good would a spinning, or spinning jump kicks if your opponent is on the ground.. that would be the ideal time to flee, or get in good mount and start taking him out. I think spinning kicks are impractical for most, because it's tough to be able to do them quickly and accurately enough for them to be of any use. I don't consider myself great at them, but I've used them in kumite fairly often, I use a lot of legs. Anyway, a guy I knew could do a spinning jump kick extremely quickly, accurately, powerfully and with lots of height.. for him, and those who are quick like him, it could possibly have practical use. just my 2 cents http://www.politicsforums.com/
Karateka Posted July 21, 2001 Posted July 21, 2001 Spinning kicks can gain momentum spinning in the air and getting extra strength while going down from gravity. It is an easy way to multiply force. "Never hit a man while he's down; kick him, its easier"Sensei Ron Bagley (My Sensei)
thaiboxerken Posted July 21, 2001 Posted July 21, 2001 The spinning kicks are awesome to show off after you have won the fight. Doing them during a fight is a high risk and puts you in danger of too many possible consequences. It's an easy way to multiply force and an easy way to fall on your butt too. Just kick 'em, they'll understand.- Me Apprentice Instructor under Guro Inosanto in Jun Fan Gung Fu and Filipinno Martial arts.Certified Instructor of Frank Cucci's Linxx system of martial arts.
Angus Posted July 21, 2001 Author Posted July 21, 2001 There's a way of combining jump-spinning and spinning kicks with advanced locks and throws. I saw a good one once but alas i ahave not been able to train in these advanced techniques... Angus Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear.
thaiboxerken Posted July 21, 2001 Posted July 21, 2001 Yes, there are takedowns that involve the spinning kick type motion in Silat, I have yet to learn it. They can do the kick, take a person down and kill them without the use of their hands, it's a very advance motion to do though, but has been known to happen. Just kick 'em, they'll understand.- Me Apprentice Instructor under Guro Inosanto in Jun Fan Gung Fu and Filipinno Martial arts.Certified Instructor of Frank Cucci's Linxx system of martial arts.
Angus Posted July 21, 2001 Author Posted July 21, 2001 My HapKiDo instructor broke the assistant instructor's son's arm with one such move. It was accidental of course but the guy was getting cocky so my instructor showed him what real power is... Angus Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear.
