Meditation and Theft

Recommended Posts

One of the guys in my class is really into Meditation, and he told me a story last night about a thief in California who meditated to the point the could burglarize someone’s house while they were asleep in the same room. He apparently got caught because his girlfriend ratted him out. I’m wondering who heard this story, and how true it is real? How much of that is him being aware, and who much is him just being stealthy, and how much is Urban legend?

Same here. That is why I asked. I know very little about meditating, maybe someone can explain in more detail.

Maybe meditation would help you be more aware of the sounds that you were making as your crept around, but really, most people won't be woken easily by quiet sounds when they are asleep.

I can't see how there's a correlation. Unless they're saying that he meditated so much about his thieving that he mentally executed the theft so many times that it translated into better performance in real time. If that's true, I'd have to believe he could have found a better focus for his meditation.

I see no connection. (I can hear an ant crawling accross the floor at midnight), so I wonder if I could hear him?

that's the funniest thing I ever heard. Hopefully this guy keeps on meditating so one day there will be no him to do the stealing.

.

Did you hear about the buddhist monk who goes to the hot dog stand and asks the vendor to make him one with everything.
