I'm new here; hopefully someone can answer my question.

I just ordered a pair of training Sais (black rubber ones) and after I'm good with those I plan on buying a good pair. My question is, what can use as a holster for them? I'd like to be able to carry them on a belt or strapped to my thighs...hehehe, Sais on thighs...but I have searched all over the web for a place where I can buy a holster and all I can find is a bag and a case - which is not what I want.

Can anyone help me either:

a) find an online store where they have Sai holsters

or

b) tell me how I can make a makeshift Sai holster

I'd appreciate some help here. Thanks for your time.

I don't think many places would make holsters for them because I believe they are illegal to carry in most countries. Depending on how sharp, you could just wrap them a few times with some kind of cloth or alternatively use a thigh holster for a handgun and just remove some of the material to make the sai fit. If they're really sharp you could sew a holster from kevlar.

why can't you just stick them in your belt? that is what i would do if i wanted to carry them around.

I think they're a bit sharp and long to carry in your belt without stabbing yourself when you move around. In addition they are illegal in many places so you want something discreet.

legalities aside, you would probably have to look for a custom sheathmaker or rigger to come up with something.

Look up Mike Sastre or Survival Sheath. They may be able to help. Expect ot pay extra for custom work though.

another interesting way to carry them..

do some research on the "rapid rotation baton" it's a police club that is built a lot like the Sai. It's attached 3/4 of the way behind you, with the length of the sai going up your back. Designed that way so officers wouldn't have to take it off when getting into their cruisers.
