I believe in an interview a while back he said he stupied Ninjitsu at some point ...maybe thats why he is so sneaky

But I have never heard of him studying Aikido..and i have never seen him attempt any sort of wrist lock.

References please.

Apart from perhaps saying this as a joke, I really doubt it.

He was a wrestler, then a pro wrestler, then a shoot fighter.

No ninjitsu or aikido.

he does do aikido look at this what someone wrote about him in a different forum: . Sakuraba uses what has been termed a "kimura". It is a common standing lock in aikido called Hiji-kime. He used this to wear down Royce and broke Renzo's arm in consecutive Pride Fights. If it wasn't aikido, how he used it to throw Renzo, was at least, very aikido-ish.

Be everything. Be nothing.

Not at all possible he studied aikido or ninjitsu huh? It's just not possible huh? I'd like to know why you find this so hard to belive Andrew Green. Does it have to do with your preconcieved notions about those arts or something else? If I learned anything from Sakaruba it's that he has a very unique style that no one else has. Maybe he studied aikido at one point and took some of the most effective moves from that training and used them in a NHB match. Is that possible? Or does aikido even have any good moves in your opinion?

Tapped out, knocked out, or choked out...Take your pick.

Sakuraba probably stole moves form Donkey Kong.

The only reason there would be a hiccup in the Aikido connection is that most committed Aikidoka would find it hypocrytical to participate in an MMA match. Doesn't mean he didn't study it, just that he probably wasn't too into it.

One cannot choose to be passive without the option to be aggressive.
