I have a total gym, I don't know anyone that has a bowflex.

It's my personal beleif that the boflex helps some what but not as much as the OLD OLD fasion way of just using your body.

And well frankly my body does me just fine. Sure it's boring and well you don'tget to pull on ropes tied to wieghts, but it sure is beneficial.

My two Cents.

I had a bowflex, and sold it quickly after I got it.

It wasn't easy to maintain a flow for the workout, always having to stop and adjust for the next exercise, the cables always felt unsteady, the bench was flimsy. The rower never worked right (Although I did get it used), and it just seemed unstable in general.

Free weights and dumbbells all the way.

You would be better off duct taping two 16lb bowling balls together to a broom stick and curling that.

Personally, you can get a better gym for half the cost. I got my olympic gym (with preacher bench, pull down & pull up features, plus 400lbs in plate weights) for $500. I have had it for 3 months, and it's awesome, and I have seen huge differences in my body!

I don't have to be the best, just better than you!
