daeinwolf Posted August 7, 2003 Posted August 7, 2003 I was just wondering if anybody had heard of this "style" of Kung Fu. When I first saw the name, I laughed but I found some websites on it. Does anyone hear practice it? http://www.whiteeyebrowpakmeikungfu.homestead.com/ --Joshua There are no limits.
paolung Posted August 7, 2003 Posted August 7, 2003 bak mei or "white eyebrow" gungfu is considered a pretty devastating system... some characteristics being the 'tiger back', a short-range type of explosive fajing called "scared power", and an almost exclusive reliance on the phoenix-eye fist. it is also relatively rare and uncommon. my sifu always said that if he had another lifetime, he'd learn bak mei. "It is not how much you know but how well you have mastered what you've learnt. When making an assessment of one's martial arts training one should measure the depth rather than the length". - MASTER "General" D. Lacey
Drunken Monkey Posted August 7, 2003 Posted August 7, 2003 just in case you were wondering, the name comes form the legendary old guy who had well, white eyebrows... post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
tsefreeflow Posted August 8, 2003 Posted August 8, 2003 The phoenix fist is not the main but most elusive. It is based off the tigers character. Look at the tiger itself for its origin, not to a man with white evebrows.
Drunken Monkey Posted August 8, 2003 Posted August 8, 2003 i was talking about where the name came from. according to legend (which i don't believe i should add) one of the five survivors of the temple burning was an old guy who had white eyebrows. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
tsefreeflow Posted August 8, 2003 Posted August 8, 2003 Yeah its legend. Not trying to debunk you but look at the tigers face..and what do you see?
Drunken Monkey Posted August 8, 2003 Posted August 8, 2003 but y'know i always thougt that the bak mei style was a deritive of the eagle styles... or was that from another legend/story...? post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
tsefreeflow Posted August 8, 2003 Posted August 8, 2003 I am sure it depends on who you are talking to.
Karateka_latino Posted August 8, 2003 Posted August 8, 2003 I had a chinese Friend who knew some Bak Mei Kung fu. He refused to teach me because his master make him promise to never teach anyone that style. Its a rare style. There aren't many experts around the world in that discipline.
