RagingNinja Posted August 6, 2003 Posted August 6, 2003 I'm just posting this to see what you guys think of these arts individually. I would be very glad if you could post some information on what kind of techniques each of these arts are all about, as I am very interested, and may consider taking one of them up. Thanks. _______________________________________"Do or do not, there is no try"- Yoda
Tibby Posted August 6, 2003 Posted August 6, 2003 I’m in a Jujitsu class what focuses a lot on Judo. Both Judo and Aikido come from Jujitsu. Judo is similar to Jujitsu in many ways, Except Jujitsu uses more striking and things of that nature. Judo is more of a Sports version of Jujitsu now a days. Aikido is more of an Art version, it is the Tia Chi of Jujitsu.
kle1n Posted August 7, 2003 Posted August 7, 2003 tibby aikido doesnt come from jiu jitsu. in the 60`s jiujitsu was changed so they used the best from ma`s and put it then in jj. although i think if u train alot of aikido and become aware of how the energies flow u will have a big advantage when u fight. Be everything. Be nothing.
JohnnyS Posted August 7, 2003 Posted August 7, 2003 aikido comes from aki-jitsu - a style of ju-jitsu. BJJ - Black Belt under John Will (Machado)Shootfighting - 3rd Degree Black BeltTKD - Black Belt
Tibby Posted August 7, 2003 Posted August 7, 2003 in the 60`s jiujitsu was changed so they used the best from ma`s and put it then in jj. What? This is new. What else you got? Where did you hear this?
TD Posted August 8, 2003 Posted August 8, 2003 The advantages of Jujitsu over Judo are: ground fighting, bone breaking, joint manipulating and specially striking such as kicking, bunching, and freedom of any survival battling trick. Personally, I prefer Jujitsu over Judo because of its flexible range of technique. But becareful of what you wish for. I believe that to defend yourself well, you first have to experience the pain yourself. Don't fear the belt; fear the one who earn it.
Tibby Posted August 8, 2003 Posted August 8, 2003 All of that is very true, except the part about Ground fighting. Judo has a lot of ground fighting.
kle1n Posted August 8, 2003 Posted August 8, 2003 tibby thats how it is in europe jj is a mix of lots of arts. Be everything. Be nothing.
Tibby Posted August 8, 2003 Posted August 8, 2003 Really? That is interesting. Here in America, many Japanese Arts come from JJ. Here, we are taugh it is a parent Art.
kle1n Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 yeah thats interesting just goes to show how cultures change asian martial arts Be everything. Be nothing.
