Drunken Monkey Posted July 30, 2003 Posted July 30, 2003 just wondering, how do you guys spar in your styles? pads? head gear? full/semi/light? anything. glad to hear from any style. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
TJS Posted July 31, 2003 Posted July 31, 2003 Headgear, cup, shingaurds, 16 oz gloves, mouthpiece-heavy contact We also slow it down and take all the pads off so you cant work more on technique.
G95champ Posted July 31, 2003 Posted July 31, 2003 no pads or pads pretty much your call. We do light contact to what i call shock contact. Meaning you can use force to certin areas of the body but if you see it hurt them back off. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
sansoouser Posted July 31, 2003 Posted July 31, 2003 no pads, full contact The amateur shoots his hands out ferociously, but lacks any true power. A master is not so flamboyant, but his touch is as heavy as a mountain.
TJS Posted July 31, 2003 Posted July 31, 2003 no pads, full contact Im guessing you limit prime tagets with certain techniques?
sk0t Posted July 31, 2003 Posted July 31, 2003 they would have to limit vital targets do to the fact that he can comprehend the question sk0t"I shall not be judged by what style I know, but how I apply that style againsts yours..."
major_motoko Posted July 31, 2003 Posted July 31, 2003 Just hand mitts, head gear for all juniors or whoever wants them.. semi-contact to all areas except head, although higher grades can aim for head but light contact. Sometimes the higher grades will go full-contact 2nd Kyu Brown Belt, Wado Ryu Karate-do"Daniel-san best karate still inside!" Mr Myagi
sansoouser Posted July 31, 2003 Posted July 31, 2003 no limited areas, thug. I do judo. The amateur shoots his hands out ferociously, but lacks any true power. A master is not so flamboyant, but his touch is as heavy as a mountain.
White_Tiger Posted July 31, 2003 Posted July 31, 2003 When we stand-up spar Pads: head, hands, feet, groin protection, mouth protection. The higher the rank the heavier the contact. Unless you are trying to teach a new student (who thinks they are the next Bruce Lee) a lesson From the thighs up are target areas.
JerryLove Posted July 31, 2003 Posted July 31, 2003 Us... Full contact, full targets, no speeed. sansoouser... who does judo... Judo iteself is limited techniques/targets. You are also "pulling" by limiting follow-through. That said, do you do this on hard floors? I would think there were a lot of head and neck injuries. https://www.clearsilat.com
