telsun Posted July 30, 2003 Posted July 30, 2003 You're right Cheeks, give Tai-chi a chance you may indeed be missing out on something. I did Shotokan before moving to Goju. When I started Goju I thought if only I had spent the last 4 years studying this instead of Shotokan!!! And now with my current instructor I can only wish that I could turn back the clock and study with him from day one. Sometimes I feel that I have wasted 13 years of my training life................ I keep asking God what I'm for and he tells me........."gee I'm not sure!"
IrishDave Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 Hi Cheeky. I've been training only 4 months in Shotokan and on one of the nights I can't make it to class there's a Tai Chi course running later in the evening which I can make. It's only an 8 week course but I am taking both concurrently and the only problem I'm finding is remembering the Tai Chi form as it's more complex than Shotokan - which I consider to be a more 'nuts and bolts' style. So let me know how you get on and let's swap any learnings... my e-mail is dave007lynch@yahoo.com. I'm also considering taking the easy tai chi teacher's course and teaching a short form of tai chi to help make a little more money... see easytaichi.com... It is better to die on your feet than live on your knees!
