Hapkido is tha Bomb! You'll like it, once again make sure it's only hapkido & nothing more it's already a Mixed Martial Art wrapped up in one style.

Strikes, joint locks, throws , take downs, pressure points..etc.

I do Korean Hapkido...I'm trained in it in the same place as I take TKD...It's an awesome martial art and will help you get out of pretty much any situation, grapple, weapon attack, and you learn how to fall and get thrown without gettin hurt...

Real hapkido is hard to find, now days it's mostly Tae Kwon Do with wrist locks. I was told not to take hapkido in a dojang where TKD is being taught as well, to seek out a dojang that only taught hapkido without any blending of TKD. The point behind this...to make sure your teacher is teaching hapkido and not TKD with wrist locks.

What about a Hapkido Dojang where Tang Soo Do is being taught? :-?

I neighbor of mine used to teach hapkido before he came to college. He can snap someone's wrists like it's nothing. It seems to be an amazing form of self defense.

To try to answer your question about Hapkido. Yes it does have it's similarities with Aikido, but Hapkido is more aggressive than Aikido. There are so many joint locks, arm bars, throws(from the wrist, clothes, and hip), and defenses from nearly every attack that you can imagine. And it is not Taekwondo with wrist locks. Every technique is designed to break a bone or cause serious pain :bawling: . There is also a lot of internal arts and healing taught. Becareful when choosing a school, there are places that say Hapkido but they are not. I am fortunate to have a Grandmaster who trained under Young Sol Choi and with Han Ji Jae :D . Good luck and if you can pick up the book HApkido by Marc Tedeschi. Great book on Hapkido :) . I almost forgot to mention the pressure points and weapon defenses. I have my first degree black belt and there is nothing like it.
