mikS Posted August 7, 2003 Posted August 7, 2003 i love watching that sort of things. it is soo cool. it amazes me again everytime i see it. just think of how bad those kids joints and things will be when they hit like 40 though! they will be tore up. Says who? Wushu isn't TKD ya know. I always thought the chinese arts were supposed to promote health, which doesn't include ruined joints.
JerryLove Posted August 7, 2003 Posted August 7, 2003 There are actually a pletora of CMA with habits very bad for your health. One way of increacing your hitting ability was to break your knicles against a rock and then immoblize your hand while they healed, then break them again. Eventually your had was useless for anything but hitting things; but you ended up with basically a very strong club. https://www.clearsilat.com
Drunken Monkey Posted August 8, 2003 Posted August 8, 2003 well, most of the chinese conditioning methods are very harsh. never heard one like that though... can you tell us more? post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
Stold Posted August 9, 2003 Posted August 9, 2003 Er....Which CMA promotes breaking your hand repeatedly?
Martial Artist Posted August 11, 2003 Posted August 11, 2003 um, anyone with half a brain would know what not to use in a fight. what i was talking about was that these guys, at five, already have flexible and strong bodies, good handspeed, good control of body movement etc etc... how much sparring/training would it take to hone their display skils into fighting skills? Actually not too much. It is still a fighting art - yes, we have a lot of flashy showy things, but we know that this is traditional and NOT GOOD FOR HAND TO HAND COMBAT. We still have your standard punches and kicks and animal strikes and grappling movements and Chi work. Good stuff. HOWEVER, teh other Kung Fu style I study, Wing Chun, is quite a bit more effective than Wu Shu. Drunken Monkey Posted August 11, 2003 Posted August 11, 2003 well wing chun does have a different purpose. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
