effective fighting?

Recommended Posts

is TDK good for self defense? Because alot of people bash it here. I would like to learn how to do high kicks since, it would help me in my fight cheoreography. But is it also good for self defense? I took San Soo, and now am taking Judo think TDK would be good?

The amateur shoots his hands out ferociously, but lacks any true power. A master is not so flamboyant, but his touch is as heavy as a mountain.

u come from san soo and look for a good fighting/self defense art???

anyway, its hard to tell whether that, would u learn at some TKD school is good for self defense. actually, yes, TKD is good for self defense. if ur dojang focusses on scoring points in WTF sparring, its probably not. there are many interpretations of the original, combat orientated TKD. many schools teach grappling or the use of weapons as a part of tkd so its really really hard to tell.

hope that at least helped a little ;)

no no icetute, not another self defense art, just wanting to learn cool kicks and more kicking because san soo doesn't use many kicks.

It depends on the school. I would say that you are more likely to find a school that is not than one that is.

yeah, guess so. but if its only the fancy kicks u want, sansoouser, then any tkd dojang (either ITF or WTF) will do fine.

there are always bad schools, bad instructors or whatever. but its rather hard to find a TKD dojang that does not teach u high kicking. since u do Kung Fu San Soo and as u stated, thats all u want from tkd @ sansoouser.
