SBN Doug
37 vs 5 Sorry, but no way! Kids should only be sparring kids, and adults only adults. If the instructor sparrs a kid, in order to teach skills, then o.k. But not student against student with that much age and size difference. Asahi1265
I didn't think the white belts should spar in their first few classes. It just looks like an injury waiting to happen. Most I've seen have no concept of what light contact is. Attack him where he is unprepared, appear where you are not expected. - SunTzu
White_Tiger
You are bright to catch on to this so quickly. Usually if it is a persons first experience in martial arts then they think "this is how it must be done!". You should not be taking class with 5 or 6 year olds. They cannot learn like you can, and your training is suffering. Visit other schools in your area...see if they offer a few free lessons, and then make your decision. Sure sounds like you need a new school though. Good luck!
CDK-TKD112
well I don't want to comment on your school or anything but I am an instructor, and I can tell you from my own experiance that every age groups learn differently. I don't think that 5 year old should be in with adults, because the maturity of a 5 year old or a even 10 year old is different than adults. Kid goof around a lot, thats being a kid. With kids they have short attention spans, some of them don't even want to be there, but with adults they want to be there and are usually dangling on your every word. With each group you have to teach them differently, and in my school we have a 4-8 year old class, 8-14 year old class, adult beginners, and an adult advanced class. We keep the different ages apart. And this works well for us.
