TJS Posted July 19, 2003 Posted July 19, 2003 Mas Oyama Proved that Kyokushin could compete with Muay Thai. Kyokushin has been the ONLY Karate stlye that has been able to compete with Muay Thai on the upper levels. Most stlyes have sent fighters to Thailand and had challenge matches against MT. Kyokushin is one of the few to have a good track record. MT usually has an edge over Kyokushin even. I belive MT succes record speaks for itself.
StoneSkin Posted July 19, 2003 Author Posted July 19, 2003 Kyokushin and Shotokan are very similar a lot of the karate styles are very similar. Kyokushin has the full contact and slightly differnt kata's, probably a few other things. I think it would be much harder to just tap someone with full power then to actually hit someone with full power. Are there differnt styles of Muay Thai within the system like Karate ? Do nothern Fighters fight differntly the southern etc. ? DO they ahev any perticular names to the styles etc.? Or is Muay Thai just Muay Thai.
TJS Posted July 20, 2003 Posted July 20, 2003 All I know is Shotokan has never been succesful like Kyokushin in various fighting Organizations. And you can blame it on lack of shotokan guys out there.
