Sasori_Te Posted December 9, 2003 Posted December 9, 2003 I like all of the kata that I practice. I get new ideas from each one every time I practice them. A block is a strike is a lock is a throw.

finn Posted December 18, 2003 Posted December 18, 2003 i dont reconise any of them names of kata. i do the style go kan ryu karate origionated in australia a mix between 2 or 3 styles kancho sullivan founded it about 70 year ago. i have dfferent katta i like sifa and bassi dai the first and second katta is to simple (takyido shodan 1st and takyido nidan 2nd) sifa is 3rd and bassi dai is 4th. watch out for that bus, what bus? splat!
finn Posted December 18, 2003 Posted December 18, 2003 Bassai dai is quite good but my favourite kata is easily Naihanchi! bassi dai is 4th kata in gkr. wot style do you do? watch out for that bus, what bus? splat!
aefibird Posted December 18, 2003 Posted December 18, 2003 Finn, I've not heard of the kata Sifa, is it similar to a kata from another style, or is it one that is only practiced in GKR? Sasori_Te Posted December 19, 2003 Posted December 19, 2003 I believe, and correct me if I'm mistaken, that Saifa kata is a goju-ryu kata from the naha te lineage. A block is a strike is a lock is a throw.
ialwaysgethit Posted December 19, 2003 Posted December 19, 2003 unsure myself. can any boby else help. oliver willison
