My general sparring strategy is to hang back a little bit, observe my opponent, all the while remaining defensive and countering their attacks with a sidekick or two.

If the person is such an agressive fighter that I can't hang back and "figure them out", I'll go on the offense: get up on my toes, stay light on my feet, dance around any of their attacks, and pound into them with jabs, backfists, uppercuts and the occasional kick. Normally I would kick much more often, but usually when I go on the defense, my partner will retreat backwards fairly quickly, and it's easier to run and punch than it is to run and kick.

M'kay I have no idea how much sense that makes for the rest of you, but that's how I like to fight :)

Not to get hit.

 You remind me of my sensei (that's a compliment).

My sparring strategy is generally to go in hard and just keep on going. I like to pound my opponent with a good roundhouse and follow up with two or three hard punches. If they haven't countered by then I just keep on pushing them further and further back. If they've recovered from that then I pull out and wait for an opening where I pound them again. I find I've got pretty good stamina and can usually last longer then most people I spar. I don't mind taking a few hits either if I can retaliate twice as hard. Of course if this doesn't work I don't mind changing until I find some tactic that does. :karate:

I like to close in when I fight so I like to grapple and/or take it to the ground after exchanging a few blows. Consequently, I like to use strikes or fakes to set up some sort of a grab or choke that I can utilize.

First, to look very relaxed, hands at my sides, nothing there but someone half asleep on their feet, easy meat...then run over them like a Mack truck hitting Bambi on the road. Low and fast, in the front and out the back, don't blink or you might miss it.

i sit their for about five seconds with my guard down and then rush in and do a climb up Enzuigiri or a flying one i think that ones called the shinning wizard. for you guys that don't know you hit the left side of the body with low speed front or round kick hold it there and jump with the leg your standing on and land it on the side of the guy's head i'm telling you nobody can't block that kick and it's to fast to dodge.

low speed front or round kick

hold it there

it's to fast to dodge.

That sounds like such a great move!

A) What's the advantage to a low speed kick over a high speed one?

B) What's the advantage of holding it there?
